What an amazing God we serve! By His grace, shown through the generosity of His people, we have managed to raise over R2.4million which is enough to purchase the church building in Melville. It was a wonderful experience sitting at my computer and within a period of three days receiving pledges of R1million as well as several monthly pledges.

While we praise God for His amazing provision we must always discipline ourselves to see these resources as means towards our primary end of glorifying God through the making of disciples from all the nations (cf. Mat. 28:18-20) and our greatest joy must always be that our names are written in the Book of Life (cf. Lu. 10:20).

Lord willing we will be occupying the new venue in September so enjoy the last winter in the Scout Hall. As we enter into this new stage in the life of Heritage Baptist there will be new sacrifices required as we seek to reach more people and do everything excellently and for God’s glory. Our first priority is to pay back a loan of R70 000.

With the purchase of a building comes new expenses:

• Water and lights
• Insurance
• Security
• Maintenance etc.

As well as the need for the following items:

• Furniture: Chairs, desks, book shelves, couches, steel tables.
• Office Equipment: Printer/photocopier, router, computer for book shop.
• Kitchen Appliances: Kettle (donated), microwave (donated), coffee machine, urn, dish washer, fridge, catering items eg. Large pots, cutlery and crockery.
• Signage: Signs outside the church and on the main roads.
• Projector: Melville Junction have kindly donated one projector to us but we need another one for the minor hall.
• Church hall items: Piano (donated), sound desk, Bibles, pulpit, industrial vacuum cleaner.
• Outdoor items: External lighting, braais, gardening equipment.

For those who pledged to give monthly amounts we ask that you would graciously fulfil that commitment by giving towards the above needs. If you have any of the above items and would like to donate them to the church please email info@heritagebaptist.co.za . If you are able to give towards these items, over and above your monthly tithes and offerings, then please deposit any amounts into the building fund (bank details below).

We will continue to keep the building fund open for two primary reasons. Firstly, part of our ethos at Heritage Baptist is to see thousands saved and we therefore hope to outgrow this new venue within the next few years. In the light of this vision we wish to start preparing now.

Secondly, we would like to be in a position where we can help church plants who find themselves in a similar predicament to us a few months ago. We are thinking especially of church plants in the poorer areas of Johannesburg. Hopefully they will be church plants from Heritage Baptist!

We look forward to a new chapter in the history of Heritage Baptist during which we long to see the salvation of many and the spiritual growth of all.
